William was born in July in 1804 in Holkham on the north Norfolk coast. His parents were James Carlton (alias Carrington) and Martha Oliver.

He was a gardener.

Birth

He was baptised on the 24th July 1804, here is his baptism entry in the parish register:

He was listed as a gardener in the Litcham parish registers in 1843, and the East Lexham parish registers in 1847.

Marriage

He married Mary Bullin from Wells (which is about 2 miles from Holkham, so within easy walking distance!), on the 19th November 1822.

Children

They had eleven children, listed on Mary's page.

He must have moved from Wroxham to Litcham between 1842 and 1845.

On the night of 30 March 1851, William is living with his wife, Mary Bullin who is a gardener, and their children: William (12), James (9), Henry (6), John (4), and Frederick (2).

On the night of 7 April 1861 he was living at Trory Street, Lakenham, Norwich with his wife Mary, and four of his children (James, Henry, John, and Frederick). He is still a gardener.


On the night of 2 April 1871 he was boarding with his son Henry at Hills Brewery Lane, Norwich. He was 66, a gardener, and married.

Death

The death of one William Carrington was registered in Norwich in Jan-March 1874, at the age of 71 (Norwich, vol 4b, p 73).
