Sarah Jane Box was the mother of Mary Ann Minnie Wells.
Birth
Sarah Jane Box was born on the 13th June 1851 at 35 Cheltenham Place in Brighton.
Her parents were John Box (a Flyman) and Mary Ann Box (née Carey).
Her birth was registered by her mother on the 10th July 1851.
She was christened on the 22nd October 1851 at Chapel Royal, Brighton, Sussex, England her parents were given as John Box and Mary Ann Box
On the night of 7 April 1861 she was living with her parents at 2 Albion Place, Brighton.
On the night of the 2nd April 1871 she was living with her grandmother, Sarah Carey, at 18 Hannover Street, Brighton. On the 1st July 1872 her mother Mary Ann Box dies from cancer of the womb at this address.
Marriage
Sarah Jane Box married Alfred Walter Wells on the 24th March 1872 at Saint Nicholas, Brighton, Sussex. Alfred was 23, and his father was John Wells. Sarah Jane was 21 and her father was given as John Box.
Children
On September the 21st in 1872 she gave birth to Mary Ann Minnie Wells while she was living at 17 White Cross Street, Brighton.

In 1891 they have moved to 84 Trafalgar Street in Brighton, where she was recorded as being a dealer in paper hangings and possibly a milliner.
In 1901 she is 49 and is living with her husband Alfred, and their 7 children, at 193 Ditchling Rise, Brighton.
In 1911 she is 59 and still living with her husband Alfred at 193 Ditchling Rise, but only her son Sydney, and grand-daughter Gwenyth are with them.
In the 1911 census it says that she had 9 children, but only 7 had survived until then. Also it mentioned that their house had 7 rooms (not including bathrooms).
