Birth
From the 1861 census we know that Mary Ann was born around 1829 in Brighton, and from the 1871 census we know that Mary's mother was called Sarah Carey (and Sarah was born around 1801).
Mary Ann Carey was baptised on the 18th March 1829 at Brighton, Sussex. Her parents were Jesse and Sarah Carey.
In 1841 Mary Carey was a female servant (aged 14) at Street in Hurstpierpoint, Sussex with the Hollamby family (grocers).
Marriage
Mary Ann Carey married John Box at Saint Nicholas, Brighton, on the 30th May 1846. She was 19 years old, and her father was Jesse Carey.
On the night of 30 March 1851 she was living with her family at 35 Cheltenham Place, Brighton. Her husband's profession was a "Flyman" - a carriage driver like her late father.
On the night of 7 April 1861 she was living with her family at 2 Albion Place, Brighton.
