Birth

From the 1861 census we know that Mary Ann was born around 1829 in Brighton, and from the 1871 census we know that Mary's mother was called Sarah Carey (and Sarah was born around 1801).


In 1841 Mary Carey was a female servant (aged 14) at Street in Hurstpierpoint, Sussex with the Hollamby family (grocers).

Marriage

Mary Ann Carey married John Box at Saint Nicholas, Brighton, on the 30th May 1846. She was 19 years old, and her father was Jesse Carey.

On the night of 7 April 1861 she was living with her family at 2 Albion Place, Brighton.
