The Francis family had a butcher's shop in Watlington Street (at the junction with St John's Road next to St John's church).

Next door was a grocer's shop owned by the Butcher family.

Edwin Francis married Emily Butcher.

These documents are held at Berkshire Record Office 2 vols.

Contents: [An introductory note has been made in the first volume by Mr. F.C. Padley, who acquired them in January 1985. Mr. Padley has also made pencil notes at various points in the volumes giving additional information about several of the customers named. The ledgers contain a record of money spent against invoices or order numbers, but no information as to what the orders consisted of.]
