Born: Died: Married: Mother: Father: Descendant: Ursula Brown

Nathaniel and Elizabeth Brown were the parents of Ursula Sarah Brown.

He died before her wedding to George Engleheart, and her guardian had become John Dillman Engleheart, which according to the will would mean that his wife Elizabeth had died too (otherwise she would become guardian).

Marriage

We know that Nathaniel's wife was called Elizabeth, and that they were probably married before 1753 (birth of their first daughter) and that she was probably dead by 1781 (as she did not appear to be the guardian for her daughter Sarah at this point).

A Nathaniel Brown married Elizabeth Parker in 1751 at St James, Westminster.

Children

  • Elizabeth Brown (b. 16 Jun 1753, London, d.29 Apr 1779, Richmond)
  • Ursula Sarah Brown (b.21 Oct 1760, c.4 Nov 1760)

Death

A Nathaniel Brown was buried in St James, Westminster, on the 18th November 1780.

His will was proved in London on the 6th February 1781, of Nathaniel Brown of the parish of Saint James withing the Liberty of Westminster in the county of Middlesex. The will was written on the 9th of June 1779.

He leaves the place of his burial to be chosen by his wife, but asks that it be private.

He leaves his estate to John Dillman Engleheart who was of the parish of St George Hanover Square, Middlesex, but now of Kew in Surrey, a plaisterer and George Engleheart of the same parish a miniature painter the sum of eight hundred pounds in a trust in their joint names (after that it gets a bit complicated). I think the interest goes to his daughter Ursula Sarah Brown until she is 21 or married when she gets the £800. But if she dies first, then £500 goes to his wife, and £300 goes to his daughter-in-law Jane Engleheart (the wife of John Dilman Engleheart). John Dillman Engleheart and George Engleheart get 20 guineas each for mourning.

Everything else is left to his wife Elizabeth Brown, who is the sole executrix, and also the guardian of Ursula Sarah Brown. But if Elizabeth should die before Ursula reaches 21 then John Dillman Engleheart and George Engleheart shall be in charge of her tuition and guardian.
