Summary

Photograph of Ernest Frank Allfrey with a group of soldiers (presumably his regiment). He is the first on the left in the back row.

The mount on the photograph says: "Elliott & Fry. 55 Baker Street. W..." (the remainder is cut off in the digital photograph). The National Gallery owns many remaining negatives from this company (but most were destroyed when a bomb hit the studio in 1940)

The photograph has the Roman numeral "III" in the bottom right.
