Summary
This is a photograph of Geoff Carrington (fifth person on the ground from the left) during (or just after) World War II.
The plane appears, from what little we can see of it, to be a Vought F4U Corsair. While this was an American made plane, the (British) Royal Navy did have significant numbers of these. The only reason to doubt that this is a Corsair is that it is suspiciously short. Photos of this type of plane seem to show ground crew being lower than the bottom of the engine cowling.
The location is unknown, but Geoff had been stationed at both RAF Milfield (Northumberland) and RAF Fairwood Common (Swansea).
