Birth

Martha Handforth was worn in around 1830-1831 in Cheadle, Cheshire.

Marriage

She married David Stoppard and together they had two children.

Children

Their children were:

  • Henry D. Stoppard (~1862, Manchester, Lancashire)
  • Annie Elizabeth Stoppard (27th August 1863).
  • Martha L. Stoppard (~1867, Manchester, Lancashire)

By 1871 they had moved to 134 Wilmslow Road in Withington, where (apart from Henry and Annie) they had three other people in the house:

  • Mary Sandiford (visitor) a 70 year old widow, allegedly born in Bramley Moor in Sheffield, Yorkshire
  • Hannah M. Bradshaw an unmarried 36 year old born in Sheffield, Yorkshire.
  • John Doherty a 15 year old errand boy born in Particroft, Lancashire.

The death of one Martha Stoppard was registered in the June quarter of 1896, at the age of 66, in the registration district of Altringham, Volume 8a, Page 116.
