Birth

David Stoppard was born in around 1830 in Lea, Derbyshire, to [[Aaron Stoppard|Aaron] and Hannah Stoppard.

They appear together, still living in Lea, in the 1841 census, along with his brother Thomas, and two sisters Ann and Mary.

Marriage

He married Martha Handforth and by 1861 they were living in their own house in Duncan Cottages, Regent Road, Salford, Lancashire. He was a hosier, and well off enough to afford a house servant living with them.

Children

They subsequently had two children:

In 1871 the family was living at 134 Wilmslow Road, Withington, Lancashire, and David was now listed as a Provisions Dealer.

Come 1881, the family had moved to Stockport Road, Cheadle, Cheshire, which was Martha's original hometown. David was a Shopkeeper/Grocer and their children Henry and Annie were still at home, probably working for their father (both being Grocer's Assistants). A William Locket was visiting from Manchester (the birthplace of Henry and Annie) and they had an Irish domestic servant (Jane Guilfoyle).

Death

He died in 1909 at the age of 78 in Manchester.

Death Registration A David Stoppard died in the March quarter of 1909 at the age of 78, the registration district was Chorlton, Volume 8c, Page 632.
